Serve912 is our local service initiative. We engage with the community year-round through regularly scheduled volunteer trips, ongoing community service activities, and meeting local needs as part of the Director’s Immediate Response Team (DIRT).

Serve912 volunteer trips leave from the Office of Leadership and Community Engagement (located in Russell Union 1056) and serve a variety of community agencies. These trips are meant to give you a taste of what it’s like to serve various agencies. Our goal for these trips is for you to try a few until you find one that fits you, then start serving there on your own! Volunteer opportunities include children’s after school recreation, tutoring, gardening programs, home construction, nursing homes, and farmer’s markets. Transportation is provided and each trip is led by an experienced student volunteer. Join other Georgia Southern students, connect with the broader community, and learn about important local issues!

Community Liaisons are placed at local organizations to bridge the gap between the Statesboro Community and Georgia Southern University by recruiting volunteers, managing programs, initiating projects, and assisting with other needs. We have a community liaison at 13 local organizations! If you want to get involved as a volunteer at any of their agencies, you can contact them here.
